Description

Destructible meshes that bounce lose their momentum, causing them to hang awkwardly midair (see attached video). The issue does not appear to occur for low framerates, and would only repro during screen-capture once sub-stepping had been enabled.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. In Content Browser, right click Engine Content > BasicShapes > Cube
  2. Click Create Destructible Mesh
  3. In editor for new Destructible Mesh, enable Destructible Settings > Damage > Enable Impact Damage
  4. Click Fracture Mesh
  5. Save asset and close Destructible Mesh editor
  6. In Content Browser, create and open a new Physical Material asset named Bounce
  7. Set Physical Material > Restitution to 1.5
  8. Save and close asset
  9. Place destructible mesh into level above the ground plane
  10. In Details, enable Physics > Simulate Physics
  11. Set Collision > Phys Material Override to Bounce asset
  12. Open Play dropdown and click Simulate

RESULTS: Cube will bounce and fracture, then will freeze mid-air. Possessing the player and colliding with the mesh will cause it to fall apart.
EXPECTED: Fractured cube will continue to bounce after impact
