Steps to Reproduce
  1. Create a level Sequence with a shot track
  2. Assign the shot to another level sequence
  3. Create an editor utility widget that gets the current level sequence, finds all subscene tracks on it, gets the first of them, gets the first of that track's sections then calls "Set Sequence" on that section to change it to a new section
  4. Open the sequence, run the editor utility widget and trigger the script. 
  5. Double click on the shot section to open the shot

RESULT

The shot does not focus. 

WORKAROUND

Saving or otherwise editing the sequence seems to allow the shot to be focused
