child blueprints calling functions from parent blueprints generate compile errors upon opening project and pressing compile within the child blueprint.
Workaround:
Open parent blueprint and compile the function. Upon re-opening project this will have to be done again.
1. Download project at link:

2. Unzip project
3. Open folder>RMB .uproject file>switch engine versions>4.9
4. Open project (if it asks for substance plugin, it is safe to ignore/say no)
5. Open Bot_ShooterCharacter
6. Compile
Results:
Compile warning "This blueprint (self) is not a TRASHCLASS_BaseCharacter_96, therefore 'Target' must have a connection" shows in output log, blueprint does not compile.
Expected:
Blueprint compiles with no error.
