Description

Flickering shadow artifacts can be seen with translucent mateirals with "Cast Dynamic Shadows As Masked" enabled.

Please note that the artifacts disappear when switching from virtual shadow maps to shadow maps in the project settings or when adding a post processing volume and setting Translucency > Type to Ray Tracing

Steps to Reproduce
  • Create new project.
  • Create new material and open it
  • Set Blend Mode to “Translucent”
  • Set “Cast Dynamic Shadows as Masked” to true
  • Set "Lighting Mode" to ”Surface ForwardShading”
  • Plug a constant vector of (0.5, 0.5, 0.5) into the base color
  • The material preview has significant shadow artifacts
  • Applying the material to a sphere in the editor results in the same artifacts
