The character gets pushed in the same direction that the platform is moving upon landing. This can be corrected by increasing the braking friction factor however, the user believes the behavior is still strange to begin with.
I added a cube simulating physics in the scene as a test and pressing the 1 key will cause it to jump and land. You will notice the cube won't skip or get pushed when landing.
RESULT
When landing on the moving platform the character skips forward quickly in the same direction that the platform is moving.
EXPECTED
When landing if the character's velocity is equal to the platform there is no movement when landing.
