One idea was to add an option to Slot node to 'keep alive' the input pin, to avoid re-init like this.
If you have an animation blueprint with a slot node and a state machine connected somewhere in the slot nodes source pin graph the state machine will reinitialize at the end of playing a montage
This is a behaviour change, and has caused problems for at least one licencee. I feel it needs to be addressed in some way.
