When creating an uncompressed AVI movie from Matinee, the final video is darker than what is previewed in the editor. I was able to narrow it down to the compression as the cause of the issue.
The user reported that the same AVI movie exported as a compressed file played correctly with the expected brightness. I was able to get a screenshot of the Alpha Channel from an uncompressed AVI file exported from Matinee, which I have attached here.
The user reporting the issue also mentions they are only able to see the darkening term of the video when playing the uncompressed file in Adobe Premier.
Matt Williams was able to use the program RV to compare the Alpha channels between the uncompressed format and the compressed format.
Note There is a bug currently in place that can freeze your editor window when exporting your AVI movie. You might need to change the 'Output directory' to something like your desktop to avoid this freeze.
Rendering Movie from Matinee freezes Instance of Editor ([Link Removed])
1. Open any project.
2. Create a simple matinee cinematic.
3. Use the 'Movie' option and uncheck 'Use Compression'
4. Be sure the file type is AVI
5. Locate the created cinematic file and open within Adobe Premier (if possible).
Expected: Video playback is at the same brightness as previewed in editor.
Outcome: Video is considerably darker when viewed through Adobe Premier.
