Description

So it looks like the artifact is definitely related to whether sss checkboard is enabled, but I can't reproduce it if enabling checkboard right after open the map, I mean it has to be reproduced after a very high res Capture movie operation with chekcboard=1

Also this issue only happens if the BaseColor is really dark, So I tune the basecolor really low, if you can tell the issue clearly you can bring up exposure bias to help see the issue

Disabling sss Checkboard can fix the issue, but it also bring another issue we didn't fixed yet at here https://jira.it.epicgames.net/browse/UE-40531?jql=text%20~%20%22subsurface%20cubemap%22
So it's not a option for the license who raise this issue, because they are also using Ambient Cubemap for illumination

Steps to Reproduce
  • Download and unzip the project and open it
  • Select the Level Sequencer actor in WorldOutliner and open it, Open Render Movie setting
  • Give a very large resolution 7000*3000 for an instance; Format is png sequences, leave the rest settings as default
  • Press Capture Movie let it do the rendering. Hold on a bit or you can stop it in middle doesn't matter. Then you can see it brings unwanted stripe patterns on the sphere surface with a Surface Profile material (If you don't see the artifact, change r.sss.checkboard 1 in CMD)
