To add some meta data to an asset you need to do a "Editor Utility Widget"
I create a button that add the metadata to a specific assets here is the onClick graph of my button
I use the content browser asset context menu "Asset Actions"."Show Meta Data" to see the meta data for an asset
Import a static and a skeletal mesh
Add some UMetaData to each one
reimport the staticmesh
reimport the skeletalmesh
RESULT: The UMetaData is lost for both assets
EXPECTED: The UMetaData is restored properly for both assets
