The mesh painting mode appears to no longer work on splines, as the vertexes seem to have all vertex colors at 1, 1, 1, 1 by default, and can't be removed or painted anything else.

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Open sample project included in additional information link
  2. Switch to Mesh Painting Mode
  3. Attempt to paint the magenta spline mesh
  4. Observe the vertex colors do not change.
