UAT output does not print to the Output Log on Linux

None of the logging that is created when packaging a project appears in the Output Log.

The following output, for example, does show up in the terminal window but it does not show up in the output log.

********** PACKAGE COMMAND COMPLETED **********

********** ARCHIVE COMMAND COMPLETED **********
BUILD SUCCESSFUL

1. Open a terminal in the Engine/Binaries/Linux folder
2. Enter "./UE4Editor" into the terminal
3. Create a Blueprint First Person project
4. Select File > Package Project > Linux
5. Select OK to choose a package Location
6. Open the Output Log

RESULT:
The project is packaged for Linux.
None of the output that is created during the packaging process appears in the Output Log.
