we ran into an issue with USD Importer plugin for Unreal 5.2.

When you import a USDStage with the "actors" import option - which respawns the newly imported actors into the current level.  However, if you save and close, and then reopen the same project or level - the recently imported actors from the USDStage are not in the level.

This only happens in 5.2 onward including //UE5/Main.  It does not happen in UE 5.1.1

Steps to Reproduce

Steps to reproduce:

  • Loading a usd file in USDStage window
  • Clicking "Actions->Import" to convert to UE assets.  After specifying the content folder in the content browser another popup window with the import options appear.  Be sure to activate "actors" option to spawn the actors into the current level.
  • Assets are correctly imported into selected content folder as uassets and actors are spawned and appear in outline window of current level
  • Saving everything
  • Close Unreal and reopen the scene (or change the current level and reopen the map again) all spawned actors are gone.
